I have always had a passion for Interior Design and Architecture. As a young child, I would visit new home construction sites with my father and imagine how I would design and furnish those empty spaces. My own home has always reflected my design aesthetic, and friends encouraged me to translate my passion into a career as an interior designer.
I specialize in transforming each client’s vision into signature spaces that are layered, beautiful, and reflect the client’s unique personality. Through the use of such tools as Chief Architect and 2020 Residential Design software for kitchens & baths, I create detailed floor plans, elevations, and 3-D renderings to help clients fully visualize their new space.
As a former photographer, I have a keen eye for composition, space, contrast, and color. This translates beautifully to my design work. I see color as a natural extension of a client’s singular vision, and I love to incorporate it through bold statements or subtle accents in all my design projects. Many clients are afraid of color, but my mission is to help them get over their fear. One of my favorite designers, Kelly Wearstler, said “Living without color is like living without love.”
In the 21st century I believe it is important to be conscious of the impact our life has on our planet, ourselves, and on the other global citizens that inhabit our beautiful earth. My commitment to sustainable design and to using responsibly sourced materials leads to designs that are not only beautiful but in harmony with the environment. This commitment also translates to promoting environmental health through sourcing of products with low VOC’s (volatile organic compounds), that have minimal off gassing, are formaldehyde free, are made from natural materials, and are generally healthy for us and our interior environment.
I completed my MFA studies in Photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and later graduated from the Interior Design program at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire. In addition, I am an ASP, Accredited Home Staging Professional, a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, the U.S. Green Building Council, the International Interior Design Association and the International Association of Home Staging Professionals. My relationships with numerous vendors in the business give me access to designer-quality furniture, cabinetry, counter top materials, cabinetry hardware, fixtures, paint, flooring, tile and more. I frequent the noted Boston Design Center, and I love to attend High Point Market in North Carolina to keep up with the latest design trends and products.
